2018-2019 Committee Openings

volunteer_help_wantedWe are always looking to add parent volunteers to the various PTA committees.  We have opportunities for everyone!  Whether you’re creative, prefer to work behind the scenes, have some fun and fresh ideas for new fundraisers or community events, we’d love to have you join us.  Committees are flexible with meeting times and will work to accommodate everyone’s schedules!  If you find something you’re interested in below, let us know.  Have a new idea or role that you’d like to fill and don’t quite see a fit, reach out to us – we love new ideas and would LOVE to create a new role for you!


 

Volunteer Coordinator:

  • Help PTA Board and relevant Committees with recruitment of volunteers for events and other PTA support
  • Work with local school groups to develop relationship for middle/high school volunteers
  • Set up, monitor, and communicate Sign-Up Genius links and progress with board and/or committees for events
  • Write/send emails to PTA Members to retain needed volunteers for events
  • Keep volunteers abreast of changes or needs for the events they will be working
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to volunteers following events
  • For large school events; coordinate and direct volunteers at check-in to ensure proper coverage and assistance
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a yearlong position.

 Membership Coordinator:

  • Work with the PTA board to market and process new and returning NES PTA members
  • Working with the PTA President and NES Principal; organize and run a fun membership campaign that will encourage parents and engage children; thus boosting member numbers
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of membership information and dues to MA PTA
  • Work with PTA Secretary to create and keep an accurate and up to date membership list
  • Distribute membership forms to parents via paper and online resources
  • Market the PTA benefits and provide members with cards and codes to access the benefits
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a yearlong position with a heavy focus during the membership drive in the fall.

Halloween Party Committee:

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Annual NES Halloween Party
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event, including operation of Bake Sale
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event takes place in late October but planning will begin in the beginning of October 2018

Holiday Bazaar and Breakfast Committee:

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Annual NES Holiday Pancake Breakfast and Craft Bazaar
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event, including operation of Bake Sale
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place in early December but planning will begin in the beginning of October 2018

Teacher Appreciation Week Coordinator(s) and Committee: 

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Annual Teacher Appreciation Week of celebration for NES teachers and staff
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to organize and solicit parent volunteers and donations via Sign Up Genius
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of the weeks celebration including decorating, setting up and monitoring for daily events
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place late April/early May but planning will begin in the beginning of March 2019

Summer Kick-off Event Coordinator(s) & Committee: 

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Annual NES Summer Kick-Off Event
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place near the end of the school year but planning will begin in the beginning of March 2019

Summer Camp Fair Committee: 

  • Plan, organize, and host the Annual Summer Camp Fair (late Winter 2019).
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event will occur in late winter with the bulk of the work done during the planning of the Camp Fair from late November 2018 to the event in late February/early March 2019.

Enrichment Committee: 

  • Assist NES Principal and teachers with finding and booking all classroom, grade level and school wide enrichment events.
  • Work to secure grants for the funding of enrichment events and presentations
  • Work with PTA President and NES Principal to secure event/presentation approval and scheduling
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a year long position however the bulk  of the work is done during the booking process in the fall.

Books Fairs Committee: 

  • Work with Book Fair Coordinator and NES Librarian to plan and coordinate NES Book Fairs
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to organize and solicit parent volunteers via Sign Up Genius
  • During the Book Fair, support the Coordinator with reconciling financials at the end of each day and  organize/make daily bank deposits
  • Consider extra activities to engage NES students such as contests or decorating the library according to theme
  • PLEASE NOTE: There are two book fairs per year – one in November and one late Spring but planning will begin in the beginning of October 2018

Book Swap Committee: 

  • Assist the Book Swap Coordinator with planning and coordination of the Annual NES Book Swap
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place in the spring but planning will begin in the late fall of 2018

Yearbook Coordinator & Committee (1-2 people / grade)

  • Work on creation and layout of NES Yearbook.
  • Take pictures at all grade level and school wide events
  • Help with layout and design of yearbook with vendor’s software
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a year long position.

Box Tops Committee: 

  • Work with Box Tops Coordinator to organize and run 2 submission campaigns during the school year.
  • Work with Coordinator, PTA President & Principal to create fun and engaging themes and prizes for the campaign
  • Work with main office to collect, count, and bag tops for submission (2x yearly)
  • Help Coordinator with online submission and mailing of tops by program deadlines.
  • Design and create fun bulletin boards that will engage and excite the kids
  • Solicit participation from other aspects of the community
  • PLEASE NOTE: This role is a year long position however the primary work will be done during the 2 campaigns in Oct/Nov 2018 and Feb 2019.

Spirit Wear Committee: 

  • Assist with orders, purchasing, and distribution of all student and staff NES shirts
  • Maintain relationship with online store vendor and NES shirt vendor
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a year long position however most of the work to be done occurs in early fall during the spirit wear ordering for new student/staff shirts and other student/family purchases. There are usually only 2-3 events where spirit wear is sold.
