2018-2019 Committee Openings

We are looking to add a number of parent volunteers to the various PTA committees for next year.  We have opportunities for everyone!  Whether you’re creative, prefer to work behind the scenes, have some fun and fresh ideas for new fundraisers or community events, we’d lovolunteer_help_wantedve to have you join us.  Committees are flexible with meeting times and will work to accommodate everyone’s schedules!  If you find something you’re interested in below, let us know.  Have a new idea or role that you’d like to fill and don’t quite see a fit, reach out to us – we love new ideas and would LOVE to create a new role for you!

 


Halloween Party Coordinator & Committee:

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Annual NES Halloween Party
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to organize and solicit parent or student volunteers via Sign Up Genius
  • Re-book and secure entertainment vendors
  • Book/secure food vendors
  • Coordinate building needs and supplies with School Maintenance Department
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary; Facebook posts, ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs, Flyer, and website posts to market the event to parents and students
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event, including operation of Bake Sale
  • Assist with locating and securing event vendors and sponsors
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to appropriate volunteers, sponsors, and vendors
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event takes place in late October but planning will begin in the beginning of October 2018

Holiday Bazaar and Breakfast Coordinator(s) & Committee:

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Annual NES Holiday Pancake Breakfast and Craft Bazaar
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to organize and solicit parent or student volunteers via Sign Up Genius
  • Re-book and secure entertainment vendors
  • Book/secure food vendors
  • Coordinate building needs and supplies with School Maintenance Department
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary; Facebook posts, ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs, Flyer, and website posts to market the event to parents and students
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event, including operation of Bake Sale
  • Assist with locating and securing event vendors and sponsors
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to appropriate volunteers, sponsors, and vendors
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place in early December but planning will begin in the beginning of October 2018

Teacher Appreciation Week Coordinator(s) and Committee: 

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Annual Teacher Appreciation Week of celebration for NES teachers and staff
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to organize and solicit parent volunteers and donations via Sign Up Genius
  • Coordinate building needs and supplies with School Maintenance Department
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary; Facebook posts, ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs, Flyer, and website posts to market the week
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of the weeks celebration including decorating, setting up and monitoring for daily events
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to appropriate volunteers, sponsors, and vendors
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place late April/early May but planning will begin in the beginning of March 2019

Walk-a-Thon Committee: 

  • Assist with the planning and coordination of the school-wide NES Annual Walk-a-thon Fundraiser
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to organize and solicit parent volunteers for the event
  • Coordinate building needs and supplies with School Maintenance Department
  • Order favors for the kids as well as secure top fundraising prizes via donation
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary; Facebook posts ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs, flyers, sponsorship forms, and website posts to market the Walk-a-Thon
  • Design and create a fun bulletin board that will engage and excite the kids
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event
  • Work with the Fundraising Coordinator to locate and secure any needed event vendors and sponsors
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to appropriate volunteers, sponsors and vendors
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place in late spring 2019 but planning will begin in February 2019

Summer Kick-off Event Committee: 

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Annual NES Summer Kick-Off Event
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to organize and solicit parent or student volunteers via Sign Up Genius
  • Book and secure entertainment & food vendors
  • Coordinate building needs and supplies with School Maintenance Department
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary; Facebook posts, ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs, Flyer, and website posts to market the event to parents and students
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event
  • Assist with locating and securing event vendors and sponsors
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to appropriate volunteers, sponsors, and vendors
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place near the end of the school year but planning will begin in the beginning of March 2019

Restaurant Fundraiser Committee: 

  • Work to find and book dining/snack locations to hold fundraisers to benefit the PTA.
  • Design and create fun bulletin boards that will engage and excite the kids
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary; Facebook posts, ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs, flyers,  and website posts to market the events to parents and students
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to appropriate volunteers, sponsors and vendors
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a year long position, however there are only 3-4 restaurant nights per school year. Someone from the committee (or designated PTA Board members) MUST be present at event for its entirety.

Summer Camp Fair Committee: 

  • Plan, organize, and host the Annual Summer Camp Fair (late Winter 2019).
  • Work with PTA President and NES Principal to secure event approval and scheduling
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary; Facebook posts ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs, flyers, and website posts to market the Summer Camp Fair
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to appropriate volunteers, sponsors and vendors
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a year long position with the bulk  of the work done during the planning of the Camp Fair from late November 2018 to the event in late February/early March 2019.

Enrichment Committee: 

  • Assist NES Principal and teachers with finding and booking all classroom, grade level and school wide enrichment events.
  • Work to secure grants for the funding of enrichment events and presentations
  • Work with PTA President and NES Principal to secure event/presentation approval and scheduling
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary; Facebook posts ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs and website posts to market enrichment programs/events
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to appropriate volunteers, sponsors and vendors
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a year long position however the bulk  of the work is done during the booking process in the fall.

Books Fairs Committee: 

  • Work with Book Fair Coordinator and NES Librarian to plan and coordinate NES Book Fairs
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to organize and solicit parent volunteers via Sign Up Genius
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary; Facebook posts, ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs, Flyer, and website posts to market the Book Fair to parents and students
  • During the Book Fair, support the Coordinator with reconciling financials at the end of each day and  organize/make daily bank deposits
  • Consider extra activities to engage NES students such as contests or decorating the library according to theme
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to appropriate volunteers, sponsors, and vendors
  • PLEASE NOTE: There are two book fairs per year – one in November and one late Spring but planning will begin in the beginning of October 2018

Book Swap Committee: 

  • Assist the Book Swap Coordinator with planning and coordination of the Annual NES Book Swap
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to organize and solicit parent volunteers via Sign Up Genius
  • Coordinate building needs and supplies with School Maintenance Department
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary; Facebook posts, ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs, Flyer, and website posts to market the Book Swap
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to appropriate volunteers, sponsors, and vendors
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place in February but planning will begin in the beginning of October 2018

Yearbook Coordinator & Committee (1-2 people / grade)

  • Work on creation and layout of NES Yearbook.
  • Take pictures at all grade level and school wide events
  • Help with layout and design of yearbook with vendor’s software
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a year long position.

Box Tops Committee: 

  • Work with Box Tops Coordinator to organize and run 2 submission campaigns during the school year.
  • Work with Coordinator, PTA President & Principal to create fun and engaging themes and prizes for the campaign
  • Work with main office to collect, count, and bag tops for submission (2x yearly)
  • Help Coordinator with online submission and mailing of tops by program deadlines.
  • Design and create fun bulletin boards that will engage and excite the kids
  • Solicit participation from other aspects of the community
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary Facebook posts, ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs and website posts to market the campaigns to parents and students
  • PLEASE NOTE: This role is a year long position however the primary work will be done during the 2 campaigns in Oct/Nov 2018 and Feb 2019.

Spirit Wear Committee: 

  • Assist with orders, purchasing, and distribution of all student and staff NES shirts
  • Create and submit to the PTA Secretary; Facebook posts, ConnectEd write ups, newsletter blurbs and website posts to market the NES Spirit Wear online store
  • Maintain relationship with online store vendor and NES shirt vendor
  • Work with volunteer coordinator to solicit parent volunteers to help sell NES Spirit Wear at school events as needed
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a year long position however most of the work to be done occurs in early fall during the spirit wear ordering for new student/staff shirts and other student/family purchases. There are usually only 2-3 events where spirit wear is sold.
